The Difference

I got up early one morning and rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish, I didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me and grew heavier with each task;
Why doesn't God help me, I wondered; He answered, "You didn't ask."
I wanted to see joy and beauty, but the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn't show me - He said, "But you didn't seek."
I tried to come into God's presence; I used all my keys at the lock;
God gently and lovingly chided, "My child, you didn't knock."
I woke up early this morning and paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray.

I Never Found The Time
I knelt to pray but not for long I had too much to do, Must hurry off and get to work For bills would soon be due, And as I said a hurried prayer Jumped up from off my knees, My Christian duty now was done My soul could be at ease. All through the day I had no time To speak a word of cheer, No time to speak of Christ to friend They'd laugh at me I feared. No time - no time, too much to do That was my constant cry. No time to give to those in need. At last it was time to die, And when before the Lord I came, I stood with downcast eyes Within His hand he held a book, It was the Book of Life. He looked in the Book and said Your name I cannot find, I once was going to write it down But never found the time.
