Covid - March 23, 2020

Facebook posting from Jessica Casarez - Posted on March 23

Yesterday I saw a headline about the Corona virus. For some reason the headline jumped out at me. I knew the Lord was speaking to me so I was still for a moment and just looked at the headline:

"COVID 19 death rates increase."

I don't write that to spark fear. I just know that in that moment the Lord was trying to speak to me.

I grabbed my Bible next to me and saw it was bookmarked to 2 Corinthians. I looked at the headline again and this is how it jumped out at me:

CO VID 19

I thought well maybe the CO is talking about the book of Corinthians. So I opened up my Bible to 2 Corinthians. I looked up the verse 1:9. And when I saw it, I couldn't believe it! This is what it says:
"Indeed we felt that we had received the
sentence of death. But that was to make
us rely not on ourselves but on God who
raises the dead." (II Corinthians 1:9)
Man!! Did you get that? How many of you have been relying on yourselves? Have you been relying on your ability to stock up on food? On your ability to provide for your family?

How many of you have started to leave God out of the equation a bit more out of fear and worry?

God is using this to show us not to rely on ourselves but to rely on Him!
His power!
His provision!
His promises!
God is using this to break off pride and fear and to instill complete trust in Him!

But wait.... there is more!

The word "vid" is in the very middle. I decided to look up the meaning of it. Guess what it means?

It means to see.

What if God is asking us to SEE that He is still in the midst of this? He hasn't forsaken us. His promises are still YES and Amen!

As scary as the world may appear to look right now, I encourage all of you to release your fears to Him. Don't rely on your power and your ability to get by.

Seek Him wholeheartedly.

The word corona has a definition of a crown. But it also has another meaning that says "what surrounds you."

If you look at what surrounds us today, it may look like it is not pretty. Lack of supplies, long lines, scared people, closed buildings, etc. But let's not lose focus that in the midst of this, God is here. And He will never leave us. He surrounds us like a shield. He surrounds us with His glory.
"And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive
the glory that will never fade away." (1 Peter 5:4)!

I'm staying at home, Lord!

This beautiful prayer was written by an Italian priest who is self-isolating at the moment and very sadly lost his own brother a few days ago to Covid-19.

I'm staying at home, Lord! And today, I realise, you taught me this, remaining obedient to the Father, for thirty years in the house of Nazareth, waiting for the great mission.

I stay at home, Lord, and in Joseph's studio, your keeper and mine, I learn to work, to obey, to round the corners of my life and prepare you a work of art.

I'm staying at home, Lord! And I know that I am not alone because Mary, like any mother, is in the next room, doing chores and preparing lunch for all of us, God's family.

I'm staying at home, Lord! And I do it responsibly for my own good, for the health of my city, for my loved ones, and for the good of my brother, whom you have put beside me, asking me to take care of him in the garden of life.

I'm staying at home, Lord! And in the silence of Nazareth, I pledge to pray, to read, study, meditate, be useful for small jobs, in order to make our home more beautiful and more welcoming.

I'm staying at home, Lord! And in the morning, I thank you for the new day you give me, trying not to spoil it and welcome it with wonder, as a gift and an Easter surprise.

I'm staying at home, Lord! And at noon I will receive the greeting of the angel, I will make myself useful for love, in communion with you who have made you flesh to live among us; and, tired of the journey, thirsty, I will meet you at Jacob's well, and thirsty for love on the Cross. I'm staying at home, Lord! And if the evening takes me melancholy, I will invoke you like the disciples of Emmaus:stay with us, the evening has arrived and the sunsets.

I'm staying at home, Lord! And in the night, in communion of prayer with the many sick, the lonely and all the caregivers, I will wait for the dawn to sing your mercy again and tell everyone that, in the storms, you have been my refuge.

I'm staying at home, Lord! And I don't feel alone and abandoned because you told me:
I'm with you every day. yes, and especially in these days of confusion, O Lord, in which, if my presence is not necessary, I will reach everyone, only with the wings of prayer. Amen

Rudy's Angel

I walked into the grocery store not particularly interested in buying groceries.  I wasn't hungry.  The pain of losing my husband of 37 years was still too raw.  And this grocery store held so many sweet memories.

Rudy often came with me and almost every time he'd pretend to go off and look for something special. I knew what he was up to. I'd always spot him walking down the aisle with the three yellow roses in his hands. Rudy knew I loved yellow roses.

With a heart filled with grief, I only wanted to buy my few items and leave, but even grocery shopping was different since Rudy had passed on. Shopping for one took time, a little more thought than it had for two. Standing by the meat, I searched for the perfect small steak and remembered how Rudy had loved his steak.

Suddenly a woman came beside me.  She was blonde, slim and lovely in a soft green pantsuit.  I watched as she picked up a large pack of T-bones, dropped them in her basket, hesitated, and then put them back.  She turned to go and once again reached for the pack of steaks.  She saw me watching her and she smiled. "My husband loves T-bones, but honestly, at these prices, I don't know."
I swallowed the emotion down my throat and met her pale blue eyes.  "My husband passed away eight days ago," I told her.  Glancing at the package in her hands, I fought to control the tremble in my voice. "Buy him the steaks. And cherish every moment you have together."  She shook her head and I saw the emotion in her eyes as she placed the package in her basket and wheeled away.

I turned and pushed my cart across the length of the store to the dairy products.
There I stood, trying to decide which size milk I should buy.
A quart, I finally decided and moved on to the ice cream section near the front of the store.
If nothing else, I could always fix myself an ice cream cone.
I placed the ice cream in my cart and looked down the aisle toward the front.

I saw first the green suit, then recognized the pretty lady coming towards me. In her arms she carried a package. On her face was the brightest smile I had ever seen. I would swear a soft halo encircled her blonde hair as she kept walking toward me, her eyes holding mine. As she came closer, I saw what she held and tears began misting in my eyes.
"These are for you," she said and placed three beautiful long stemmed roses in my arms. "When you go through the line, they will know these are paid for." She leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on my cheek, then smiled again.

I wanted to tell her what she'd done, what the roses meant, but still unable to speak, I watched as she walked away as tears clouded my vision.  I looked down at the beautiful roses nestled in the green tissue wrapping and found it almost unreal.  How did she know?  Suddenly the answer seemed so clear.  I wasn't alone.
"Oh, Rudy, you haven't forgotten me, have you?" I whispered, with tears in my eyes. He was still with me, and she was his angel.

This page is designed to help you understand what F.A.C.T.S. is all about.

Faith
- Faith is believing in what cannot be seen, our faith in GOD though is based on HIS ever presence and HIS Creation.

Acceptance
- When we talk about acceptance I am talking about accepting the fact that we are created by GOD for a purpose that HE designed even before we were born and some-times accepting that fact can be hard just because the world says we are to be whatever we want to be. GOD created us and HE knows best. ACCEPT WHO YOU ARE IN GOD.

Commitment
- God wishes for us to give Him a life-long commitment not just a short time, because He commited everything to us through HIS Son JESUS CHRIST. HE did not give us a short commitment HE gave us 100% and that is what HE desires from us when we are commited to serving HIM and HIS ways we will see things that only can be explained by GOD.

Trust
- This is one the hardest things to do and that is to TRUST wholly and completely in GOD, but that is what HE desires from us, because  HE created us and HE knows what is best for us and HE knows how we should live our lives. TRUST is important in this life.

Surrender
- Surrender is the other one that is really tough, because withsurrender it seems like we must expose ourselves and become vulnerable, but this is not the case with GOD. HE wants us to give back to HIM who created us our very selves, all of us not just certain areas of our lives all of us. For if we do  not totally surrender to GOD then we have surrendered part of us to Satan. With GOD HE wants every ounce of us to be in HIS control, but HE gives us choices and with Satan he will take any part that can help him to destroy lives and families and the world. Please surrender yourself to the one who created you and wants to save you for all eternity and not the one who wants to destroy you. Surrender your all TODAY!

His Eyes

The multitude
was not subdued
with Jesus on display.
So I pushed near,
to better hear
what they all had to say.

It was his task
that Pilate ask,
Are You King of the Jews?
With Jesus mute
there was dispute
and so the crowd would choose.

Barabbas won,
so on the run
good Peter tried to hide.
The time was grim
when asked of him,
but three times he denied.

Now at the cross
was greater loss
with torture and with pain.
From crown of thorn
to nails and scorn,
would someone please explain?

Though not His fault,
they would not halt.
Was this unstoppable?
I called His name
so I could blame
the one responsible.

Above the din
I asked again,
"Oh, whose sin it could be?"
Through blood and sweat
I won't forget
when His eyes turned to me.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus · Amy Grant (Lyrics)

[Chorus]
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace

[Verse 1]
O soul are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's light for a look at the Savior
And life more abundant and free

[Verse 2]
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there
Over us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conquerors we are

[Chorus]
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace

[Verse 3]
His word shall not fail you, He promised
Believe Him and all will be well
Then go to a world that is dying
His perfect salvation to tell

[Chorus]
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace

[Outro]
Oh, turn your, oh, turn your
Oh, turn your eyes upon Jesus
Oh, turn your, oh, turn your
Oh, turn your eyes upon Jesus
Oh, turn your, oh, turn your
Oh, turn your eyes upon Jesus
Oh, turn your, oh, turn your
Oh, turn your eyes upon Jesus
Oh, turn your, oh, turn your
Oh, turn your eyes upon Jesus
Oh, turn your, oh, turn your
Oh, turn your eyes upon Jesus

The Cross of Calvary

A poem with a Calvary-centric theme written in worship and wonder at the goodness of God and all His promises theme and the remembrance to take up our cross daily and follow Him.
"The Cross of Calvary" written by Yee Ying Yeo © 2020

O cross of Calvary to thee I cling
My life, my love, all that I bring
I render unto Christ my Lord
All lovingly admired, adored

O cross of Calvary to thee I look
My sins and burdens all forsook
To bear the only I can bear
I worship thee in praise and prayer

O cross of Calvary to thee I gaze
Thy lovingkindness shall amaze
The dimmest portion of my mind
My heart to wonder is resigned

O cross of Calvary to thee I bring
An offering made unto my king
Who my lips to Him inspire
Songs and hymns of His desire

O cross of Calvary to thee I make
A promise that I cannot break
In pledge to love and all forsake
To follow thee this vow I take

O cross of Calvary to thee I pray
I come to thee and loving say
How great I owe to thee who died
This debt of love thee glorified

O cross of Calvary to thee I plead
For those I love I intercede
Thy grace and mercy them impart
Thy love to touch a tender heart

O cross of Calvary to thee I go
The time will come when I shall know
My living here has reached its end
I rise to thee in heaven’s land

O cross of Calvary to thee I confess
All my flaws and unworthiness
Shall be cleansed and washed away
Before thee stand on judgment day

O cross of Calvary to thee I bless
Thou whose love art blissfulness
With whom I find joy through the pain
Sweeter yet my blessing gain.

The Old, Old, Legend Of The Dogwood

Two thousand years ago, few trees in the Middle East were not big enough to construct anything. However, one tree was valued above the others for its thick trunk and fine, strong wood. When the Romans came to rule over Jerusalem, their government used this same timber to build the crosses for executing criminals. A group of workers were assigned to gather wood for the crosses. Before long, every Roman official knew the best wood came from these gatherers of execution wood, so those workers became popular.

One day, the wood gatherers received a special request. An officer of the Roman court came and said, "The King of Jews is to be put to death. Deliver an extra-large cross made from your finest wood." So, a fresh tree was cut from the forest of the trees with thick trunks and fine, strong wood. An extra-tall (and extra-heavy) cross was quickly made and delivered. Three days after the death of Jesus of Nazereth, the chief wood gatherer got alarming news. "All of our finest trees are withering!" the messenger whispered. The wood gatherer hurried to the forest and saw that it was true.

Several years later, the chief wood gatherer heard that, every spring, many people visited the old forest that had once made his job so easy. Despite his advancing years, he set out to discover why. He saw the remains of forest, now like a salty bottoms, with only a few trees still standing tall, baked, lifeless and rotting.

But what was this? As he drew closer, his feeble eyes could make out the people walking among thousands of beautiful, flowering bushes. Seeing one of his own workers there, the old man said, "No one could ever make a cross out of this twisted wood. Our finest tree has gone to the dogs!" He noticed the beautiful white flowers, each blossom looking as if it had been burned from the touch of a miniature cross. So...an old and beautiful legend has it that, at the time of the crucifixion, the dogwood was comparable in size to the oak tree and other monarchs of the forest. Because of its firmness and strength it was selected as the timber for the cross, but to be put to such a cruel use greatly distressed the tree. Sensing this, the crucified Jesus in his gentle pity for the sorrow and suffering of all said to it:

"Because of your sorrow and pity for My sufferings, never again will the dogwood tree grow large enough to be used as a gibbet. Henceforth it will be slender, bent and twisted and its blossoms will be in the form of a cross -- two long and two short petals. In the center of the outer edge of each petal there will be nail prints -- brown with rust and stained with red -- and in the center of the flower will be a crown of thorns, and all who see this will remember."

A Child's Angel

Once upon a time, there was a child ready to be born.  So one day he asked God,  "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

God replied,  "Among the many angels, I chose one for you.  She will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child said,  "But tell me, here in Heaven, I don't do anything else but sing and smile.  That's enough for me to be happy.  And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me, if I don't know the language that men talk?"

God replied,  "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

The child questioned,  "And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

God replied,  "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

The child said,  "I've heard that there are bad men on earth.  Who will protect me?"

God replied,  "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking her own life."

The child said,  "But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."

God replied,  "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way for you to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment, there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from earth could already be heard.  The child, in a hurry, asked softly,  "Oh God!  If I am about to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

God replied,  "Your angel's name is of no importance.  You will simply call her MOMMY."

Easter Bible Verses

A few of my favorite Easter Bible Verses & Easter Scriptures for use with your Crafts, Easter Cards, Scrapbooks or Church Easter Newsletters.

Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes; and they will sentence Him to death and deliver Him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and whipped and crucified, and He will be raised [to life] on the third day. - Matthew 20:18-19

Now after the Sabbath, near dawn of the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to take a look at the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled the boulder back and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning, and his garments as white as snow. - Matthew 28:1-3

Jesus answered them, Destroy (undo) this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again. - John 2:19

...Thus it is written that the Christ (the Messiah) should suffer and on the third day rise from (among) the dead, and that repentance [with a view to and as the condition of] forgiveness of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. - Luke 24:46-47

And Jesus said to them, You will all fall away this night [that is, you will be caused to stumble and will begin to distrust and desert Me], for it stands written, I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered. But after I am raised [to life], I will go before you into Galilee. - Mark 14:27-28

For You will not abandon me to Sheol (the place of the dead), neither will You suffer Your holy one [Holy One] to see corruption. - Psalm 16:10

But [they were written] for our sakes too. [Righteousness, standing acceptable to God] will be granted and credited to us also who believe in (trust in, adhere to, and rely on) God, Who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was betrayed and put to death because of our misdeeds and was raised to secure our justification (our acquittal), [making our account balance and absolving us from all guilt before God].
- Romans 4:24-25

Who is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us? - Romans 8:34

For this [reason] the Father loves Me, because I lay down My [own] life—to take it back again. No one takes it away from Me. On the contrary, I lay it down voluntarily. [I put it from Myself.] I am authorized and have power to lay it down (to resign it) and I am authorized and have power to take it back again. These are the instructions (orders) which I have received [as My charge] from My Father. - John 10:17-18

And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places].
- Ephesians 1:19-20

This Jesus, when delivered up according to the definite and fixed purpose and settled plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and put out of the way [killing Him] by the hands of lawless and wicked men. [But] God raised Him up, liberating Him from the pangs of death, seeing that it was not possible for Him to continue to be controlled or retained by it. - Acts 2:23-24

But you denied and rejected and disowned the Pure and Holy, the Just and Blameless One, and demanded [the pardon of] a murderer to be granted to you. But you killed the very Source (the Author) of life, Whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. - Acts 3:14-15

For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised; And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is mere delusion [futile, fruitless], and you are still in your sins [under the control and penalty of sin]; And further, those who have died in [spiritual fellowship and union with] Christ have perished (are lost)! If we who are [abiding] in Christ have hope only in this life and that is all, then we are of all people most miserable and to be pitied. But the fact is that Christ (the Messiah) has been raised from the dead, and He became the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep [in death]. - 1 Corinthians 15:16-20

And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus: 'I will give you the sure mercies of David.' Therefore He also says in another Psalm: 'You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.' - Acts 13:34-35(NKJV)

But God raised Him from the dead. He was seen for many days by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people. And we declare to you glad tidings—that promise which was made to the fathers.
- Acts 13:30-32(NKJV)

God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.'
- Acts 13:33(NKJV)

[The Gospel] regarding His Son, Who as to the flesh (His human nature) was descended from David, and [as to His divine nature] according to the Spirit of holiness was openly designated the Son of God in power [in a striking, triumphant and miraculous manner] by His resurrection from the dead, even Jesus Christ our Lord (the Messiah, the Anointed One). - Romans 1:3-4

And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you. - Romans 8:11

Now Jesus, having risen [from death] early on the first day of the week, appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had driven out seven demons. - Mark 16:9

And while they were perplexed and wondering what to do about this, behold, two men in dazzling raiment suddenly stood beside them. And as [the women] were frightened and were bowing their faces to the ground, the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among [those who are] dead? He is not here, but has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee that the Son of Man must be given over into the hands of sinful men (men whose way or nature is to act in opposition to God) and be crucified and on the third day rise [from death]. - Luke 24:4-7

And moreover, some women of our company astounded us and [a]drove us out of our senses. They were at the tomb early [in the morning] but did not find His body; and they returned saying that they had [even] seen a vision of angels, who said that He was alive! - Luke 24:22-23

Jesus said to her, Woman, why are you crying [so]? For Whom are you looking? Supposing that it was the gardener, she replied, Sir, if you carried Him away from here, tell me where you have put Him and I will take Him away. Jesus said to her, Mary! Turning around she said to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni!—which means Teacher or Master. - John 20:15-16

Jesus said to her, Do not cling to Me [do not hold Me], for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to My brethren and tell them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God. Away came Mary Magdalene, bringing the disciples news (word) that she had seen the Lord and that He had said these things to her. - John 20:17-18

For I passed on to you first of all what I also had received, that Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for our sins in accordance with [what] the Scriptures [foretold], that He was buried, that He arose on the third day as the Scriptures foretold, and [also] that He appeared to Cephas (Peter), then to the Twelve. Then later He showed Himself to more than five hundred brethren at one time, the majority of whom are still alive, but some have fallen asleep [in death]. Afterward He was seen by James, then by all the apostles (the special messengers), and last of all He appeared to me also, as to one prematurely and born dead [no better than an unperfected fetus among living men].
- 1 Corinthians 15:3-8

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, [the women] went to the tomb, taking the spices which they had made ready. And they found the stone rolled back from the tomb, but when they went inside, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. - Luke 24:1-3

And when they came to the place which is called The Skull [Latin: Calvary; Hebrew: Golgotha], there they crucified Him, and [along with] the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. And Jesus prayed, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. And they divided His garments and distributed them by casting lots for them.
- Luke 23:33-34

He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.
- Isaiah 53:3-7(NKJV)

And when they finished making sport of Him, they stripped Him of the robe and put His own garments on Him and led Him away to be crucified. As they were marching forth, they came upon a man of Cyrene named Simon; this man they forced to carry the cross of Jesus. - Matthew 27:31-32

And when they came to a place called Golgotha [Latin: Calvary], which means The Place of a Skull, they offered Him wine mingled with gall to drink; but when He tasted it, He refused to drink it. And when they had crucified Him, they divided and distributed His garments [among them] by casting lots so that the prophet’s saying was fulfilled, they parted My garments among them and over My apparel they cast lots.
- Matthew 27:33-35

Then they sat down there and kept watch over Him. And over His head they put the accusation against Him (the cause of His death), which read, This is Jesus, the King of the Jews. At the same time two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right hand and one on the left. - Matthew 27:36-38

And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.” Likewise, the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” Even the robbers who were crucified with Him reviled Him with the same thing.
- Matthew 27:29-44 (NKJV)

Jesus said to her, I am [Myself] the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) Me, although he may die, yet he shall live; and whoever continues to live and believes in (has faith in, cleaves to, and relies on) Me shall never [actually] die at all. Do you believe this? - John 11:25-26
