Center Of The Bible

What is the shortest chapter in the Bible? (Answer - Psalm 117)
What is the longest chapter in the Bible? (Answer - Psalm 119)
Which chapter is in the center of the Bible (Answer - Psalm 118)
There are 594 chapters before Psalm 118.
There are 594 chapters after Psalm 118
Add these numbers up and you get 1188.
What is the center verse in the Bible? (Answer - Psalm 118:8)

Does this verse say something significant about God's perfect will for our lives?

The next time someone says they would like to find God's Perfect Will for their lives and that they want to be in the center of His Will, just send them to the center of His Word!
Psalm 118:8

"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."
Now isn't that odd how this worked out - or is God, The Author, the center of it?

Certainly His Resurrection Is Supreme Truth

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: - John 11:25

While the literal bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ is the corner-stone of Christian doctrine, it is also the Gibraltar of Christian evidence, and the Waterloo of infidelity and rationalism. If the Scriptural assertions of Christ's resurrection can be established as historic certainties, the claims and doctrines of Christianity rest upon an impregnable foundation. On the other hand, if the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead cannot be established, Christianity must go. It was a true instinct that led a leading and brilliant agnostic in England to say, that there is no use wasting time discussing the other miracles. The essential question is, Did Jesus Christ rise from the dead? adding, that if He did, it was easy enough to believe the other miracles; but, if not, the other miracles must go.

Are the statements contained in the four Gospels regarding the resurrection of Jesus Christ statements of fact or are they fiction, fables, myths? There are three separate lines of proof that the statements contained in the four Gospels regarding the resurrection of Jesus Christ are exact statements of historic fact. -

Alter Call

There's a small crowd gathered in the church yard.
It's just another Sunday, like so many times before.
There's lots of socializing as folks enter thru the doors.
Preparing for the service like a thousand times before.

They'll do a little singing and they'll go to God in prayer.
Then the Pastor reads the scripture with everyone to share.
He'll give them God's message and pray for ears to hear.
Then he'll call for decisions with a hopeful voice so clear.

Just another Sunday service, just another altar call.
Just one more invitation, pleading come one and all.
People standing in the pews, singing "Just As I Am."
As the Pastor stands in waiting, just another altar call.

Than a hand begins to tremble and a book begins to close.
Someone steps into the aisle as the music plays real slow.
As she kneels before God, her tears begin to flow.
She gives her life to Jesus and He purifies her soul.

It's been many years since I walked down that aisle.
I'll always remember my Pastor's big smile.
I thank God for the churches and for every altar call.
For when you leave the altar, you never leave alone.

Just another altar call, was all it was to most.
Just another service ending, coming to a close.
But God spoke to me that day and I realized I was lost.
It was during that altar call, I met Jesus at the cross.

W.W.J.D.

WWJD stands for "What Would Jesus Do?", where "Jesus" refers to Jesus of Nazareth (see New Testament). Often printed on bracelets or along the length of lanyards.

Articles with "WWJD?" are worn by Christians to promote and/or reflect the idea that in times of conflict or moral dilemna, one should speculate (based on the teachings and behaviors described in the Gospels) what Jesus would probably have done in the given situation.

A better interpretation of WWJD might be Walk With Jesus Daily.
“The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you” (2 Chronicles 15:2)

Grave Clothes And The New Year

... When He had said this Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them,
“Take off the grave clothes and let him go.” John 11:43-44
The event in thee above verses triggered the Pharisees to crucify Jesus. Lazarus had been dead four days. Jewish tradition prompted the family to bury soon after death, but the Jews also believed the spirit hovered over the dead body for up to three days. This time too had passed. Lazarus was a fully dead man! It was a real miracle to bring him back to life, and this was too much for the Pharisees.

Jesus came to give us life! Jesus told Lazarus to take off His grave clothes, to quit “living” like he was dead. Shouldn’t we do the same thing?
Perhaps you have made some whopper mistakes along the way. Brokenness has a way of catching up with us.

We all have a past. Some of us have major regrets tucked away in our history. Some of us have walked through some hard core situations. Pain, loss, failure, mistakes. Some of us have had private failures, some of us have had quite public ones.

We can keep a lid on things only for so long, but eventually, sin has a way of being exposed
Well, stop “living” among the dead. Look alive! Don’t let this world define your peace, contentment, or joy.

Take off your grave clothes and LIVE!

Stephen McWhirter - Grave Clothes (Lyrics)

SONG STORY Birthed out of a powerful and spontaneous time of worship, “Grave Clothes” is a declaration and powerful anthem, calling us to take off what is dead and put on the fullness of life, in Christ. Stephen McWhirter’s own testimony is one of being radically restored from meth addict to worship leader, after encountering the One who called him the tomb, removing his Grave Clothes, and putting on resurrection.

Grave Clothes: VERSE 1 You show up, the power of death is broken Just one touch, and I am changed From your lips my true name You’ve spoken You’re calling out who I’ve always been CHORUS I’m taking off my grave clothes I’m putting on righteousness I’m taking off my grave clothes I’m putting on resurrection VERSE 2 You step in, crushing every stronghold All my sin beneath Your feet Just one word, and You awaken my soul I trade these rags for who You say I am BRIDGE I’m gonna sing it till I mean it Till all my doubts have been defeated I’m gonna sing it till I mean it You’re gonna see this dead man walk

Thee Pink Dress

There was this little girl sitting by herself in the park. Everyone passed by her and never stopped to see why she looked so sad. Dressed in a worn pink dress, barefoot and dirty, the girl just sat and watched the people go by.

She never tried to speak, she never said a word. Many people passed but no one would stop. The next day I decided to go back to the park in curiosity to see if the little girl would still be there. Yes, she was there, right in the very spot as she was yesterday, and still with the sad look in her eyes.

Today I was to make my own move and walk over to the little girl. For as we all know, a park full of strange people is not a place for young children to play alone. As I got closer I could see the back of the little girl's dress was obscenely shaped. I figured that was the reason people just passed by and made no effort to help.

Deformities are a low blow to our society and, heaven forbid if you make a step toward assisting someone who is different. As I got closer, the little girl lowered her eyes slightly to avoid my intent stare. As I approached her, I could see the obscene shape of her back more clearly. She was grotesquely shaped in a humped-over form. I smiled to let her know it was OK, I was there to help, to talk. I sat down beside her and opened with a simple Hello.

The little girl acted shocked, and stammered a "hi," after a long stare into my eyes. I smiled and she shyly smiled back. We talked until darkness fell and the park was completely empty. I asked the girl why she was so sad. The little girl looked at me and with a sad face said, "Because I'm different."

I immediately said, "That you are!" and smiled. The little girl acted even sadder and said, "I know."

"Little girl," I said, "you remind me of an angel, sweet and innocent. She looked at me and smiled. Slowly she got to her feet and said, "Really?"

"Yes, you're like a little Guardian Angel sent to watch over all those people walking by."

She nodded her head yes, and smiled. With that she spread her wings and said, "I am. I'm your Guardian Angel," with a twinkle in her eye. I was speechless, sure I was seeing things. She said, "For once you thought of someone other than yourself. My job here is done.

" I got to my feet and said, "Wait. So why did no one stop to help an angel?" She looked at me and smiled, "You're the only one that could see me," and then she was gone. And with that, my life was changed dramatically.

So, when you think you're all you have, remember, your angel is always watching over you.

B.L.E.S.S

B - Begin with prayer. We want you to ask, ‘God how do you want me to bless the people in the places you’ve sent me to?’
L - Listen. Don’t talk, but listen to people, their struggles, their pains, in the places God sent you.
E - Eat. You can’t just check this off. It’s not quick. You have to have a meal with people or a cup of coffee. It builds relationships.
S - Serve. If you listen with people and you eat with people they will tell you how to love them and you’ll know how to serve them.
S - Story. When the time is right, now we talk and we share the story of how Jesus changed our life.
-----------------------------------------------------

B - Body: Pray for good health, protection, and strength.
L - Labor: Pray for their work experience and their financial security.
E - Emotional: Pray for emotional health and a good quality of life; for joy, peace, hope.
S - Social: Pray for their relationships with their family and friends.
S - Spiritual: Pray for their salvation, that they will come to faith in Jesus Christ.

-----------------------------------------------------

B - BEGIN WITH PRAYER Prayer is the the vital starting point when it comes to sharing the good news of Jesus and blessing others.

L - LISTEN WITH CARE {Proverbs 18} People feel valued, loved, and respected when we choose to listen with care.

E - EAT TOGETHER {2 Samuel 9} Inviting others to eat with us sets the table for transformation and redemption.

S - SHARE YOUR STORY {Acts 22:3-22} God wants to use our life story to draw others to faith in Christ. As we open up, we must remember to be honest about our past, honor God as the one who changed our lives, and to share courageously.

S - SERVE IN LOVE {Matthew 20:20-28} We all get caught up in doing good things for the wrong reasons at some point in our lives. The story prompts us to ask ourselves four questions to make sure the way we serve others follows in the footsteps of Jesus.

This Old Bible

I was browsing through the books at a second hand store,
When I found an old Bible, tattered and worn.
The pages were yellow, the binding was scored,
The cover was dusty, faded and torn.

It must have been a hundred years old,
Or perhaps even more,
Well, I bought that old Bible,
From that second hand store.

I went back to my home,
Sat down in my chair,
And opened the old Bible,
With delicate care.

On the inside cover were the faded words,
"To momma, with love from your son",
And I though of the joy that she must have felt,
To receive such a gift as this one.

As I thumbed through the pages I found scriptures marked,
Underlined so carefully,
And I thought of the comfort those scriptures had brought,
To those who owned this Bible before me.

The twenty third Psalms was underlined,
And the Beatitudes of Matthew five,
And I could tell where tear drops had stained the scripture,
That told how Jesus had suffered and died.

And I could almost feel the joy and thrill,
In the hand that marked the scripture in red,
That told how the angels had opened the tomb,
And how Jesus arose from the dead.

I found John 3:16 was underlined,
And Romans 6:23,
And John 14:6, where Jesus said,
"No man cometh unto the Father, but by Me".

As I held that old Bible that I'd bought for one dollar,
I knew it's immeasurable worth,
Not only was it someone's most prized possession,
It was the most important book on earth.

I wondered how many tear drops had stained it's pages,
In salvation so pure and free,
I wondered how many hearts and souls it had touched,
Before it found its way to me.

Now it stands on my bookshelf,
A prized possession again,
A symbol of God's love and sacrifice,
His written word to all men.
