Be The Copper Kettle

A bible teacher had just finished speaking to a large class of businessmen on the Christian's responsibility to be a "light" in the world. He emphasized that believers are to reflect the Light of the world, the Lord Jesus. 

After the class, one of the members related to him an experience he had in his home which had impressed upon this same truth. He said that when he went into his basement he made an interesting discovery. Some potatoes had sprouted in the darkest corner of the room. At first he couldn't figure out how they had gotten enough light to grow. 

Then he noticed that the cook had hung a copper kettle from the ceiling near a cellar window. She kept it so brightly polished that it reflected the rays of the sun onto the potatoes. The businessman said, "When I saw that, I thought, I may not be a preacher or a teacher with ability to expound Scripture, but at least I can be a copper kettle catching the rays of the Son and reflecting His Light to someone in a dark corner."

The following 'Be-Attitudes for Mothers' I feel are suitable for Mother's Day, especially today, which is also the feast of Our Lady of Pompeii

Jesus' Report Card

It is the end of the year and Jesus, who is a student at Nazareth School, returns home with his report card.  And, frankly, it's not very good.

His mother has already seen the report card. She did not say anything, meditating all those things in her heart.  But today, the most difficult remains to be done.

It must be shown to Joseph.

MATHEMATICS: knows almost nothing, except to multiply breads and fish.

SENSE OF ADDITION: is not acquired, affirms that he and his father are one.

WRITING: never has his notebooks and pencils, is obliged to write on the sand.

GEOGRAPHY: has no sense of direction, says that there is only one way, and that it leads to his father.

CHEMISTRY: do not do the required exercises, and when you have your back turned, turns the water into wine to make fun friends.

EDUCATION: instead of learning to swim, like everyone else, walks on the water.

ORAL EXPRESSION: big difficulties to speak clearly, expresses in parables.

ORDER: lost all his school belongings and declares, without shame, that he does not even have a stone as a pillow.

CONDUCT: an unfortunate tendency to frequent foreigners, the poor, mangy, and even prostitutes.

Joseph thinks that it can not last and that he must take severe measures. 
And he exclaims: 

"Well, Jesus, since it's like that, 
you can make a cross on your Easter vacation! "

National Day Prayer 2019

How to P.R.A.Y. for our Nation . . .

Praise – Thank God for all His many blessings on this nation and the freedoms we enjoy. “O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments” (Dan. 9:4).

Repent – Confess your sins and ask God to reveal anything unpleasing to Him in your life. Cry out for the sins of this nation. “We have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules” (Dan. 9:5).

Ask – Request that God would reveal His truth, turn our hearts back to Him and bring healing. “We have refused to seek mercy from the Lord our God by turning from our sins and recognizing his truth” (Dan. 9:13).

Yield – Submit to the Lord and know that He will answer our prayer according to His perfect and sovereign will. “O my God, incline your ear and hear . . . For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act” (Dan. 9:17-18).

His Eye Is On The Sparrow Short Story

Said the Parrot to the Sparrow, "I am much prettier than you.... Look at my coat of many splendoured colors, Yellow, red, green and a deep royal blue..."

The little Sparrow frowned and nodded, It's true she thought - what can I say... My dress looks rather drab and dreary, Just brown - no brilliance to display...

But - do we judge each other by our feathers, Is that the only beauty we can see? She flipped her tiny wings in indignation, And squeaked - "No, no that must never be..."

For look at the Raven - a bird of ill omen, Plain, common and black - no colour at all... Yet the world takes notice and is sore afraid, When it hears the sound of the Raven's call...

Or, have you ever watched the Eagle, Soaring upwards in tireless flight... Fearing nothing, he rides the winds of Heaven, Far above all turbulence, to a greater height...

And then, there's the Dove, pure, spotless and white, A symbol of innocence, of tenderness and grace... Chosen in ancient times, as a "Peace-offering" Sacrificed in honour, to God's Glory and Praise...

Suddenly, the Sparrow flipped her wings again, And chirped - "I might be plain and very small... Yet I'm blessed, for His eye is on the Sparrow, And He watches over me - and knows when I fall..."

Atheist In The Woods

An atheist was taking a walk through the woods, admiring all that the accident of evolution had created. "What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!" he said to himself.

As he walked alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look, just in time to see a 7-foot grizzly charge towards him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder & saw the bear closing in on him. He tried to run even faster, so scared that tears were coming to his eyes. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer.

His heart was pumping frantically as he tried to run even faster, but he tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up and saw the bear right on top of him raising his paw to kill him.

At that instant, he cried out, "Oh my God!"

Just then, time stopped... The bear froze; the forest was silent; even the river stopped moving. A bright light shone upon the man, and a voice came out of the sky, saying, "You deny My existence all of these years; teach others I don't exist; even credit My creation to a cosmic accident, and now do you expect Me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"

The atheist, ever so proud, looked into the light and said, "It would be rather hypocritical to ask to be a Christian after all these years. But could you make the bear a Christian?"

"Very well," said the voice.

As the light went out, the river ran, the sounds of the forest continued, and the bear put his paw down. The man breathed a sigh of relief. Then the bear brought both paws together, bowed his head and said:

 "Lord, I thank you for this food, which I am about to receive."
