A Hunters Prayer

Heavenly Father I Pray To You

A Majestic Buck May Come My Way,

Let My Aim Be Straight And True

This My Lord I Pray To You.

A Swift Clean Kill Is What I Ask

Take His Spirit Swift And Fast,

For His Last Breath Should Not Be

One Of Pain And Agony.

Let His Soul Come To Thee

To Roam Your Heavens,

Wild And Free

Amen.

 -- Hunter's Prayer #2 --

“We pray our sights be straight and our aim be true
We pray for no pain to the game we pursue
We thank you, Lord for this land
We thank you for the sights from our stands
We pray for safety one and all
We pray we may return in the fall."
S. Elliot

 Hunter's Prayer #3
I Pray that I am able to hunt until my dying day,
And when its time for my last trip I then must humbly pray,
That the Lord will surround me With all my friends,
To relive all the hunts from the past before entering his great forest at last.
Amen.

Kitty-Cat Prayers

My Dear Friend and Companion,
To Thee I Pray!
Although I am too proud to beg, and may appear to be a very independent creature, I ask for your loving care and attention! I rely on you for my well being, much more than you may realize!
This I promise you, my benefactor, that I will not be a burden on you nor will I demand more of you than you care to give!

I will be a quiet peaceful island of serenity for you to gaze upon: a soft soothing body to caress, and I shall purr with pleasure to rest your weary ears!Since I am a gourmet who appreciates different taste sensations, I pray you will give me a variety of nutritious foods and fresh water daily!

You know dear friend, how I love to go nap! Allow me please! I pray, a warm sheltered place where I can rest peacefully and feel secure! If I am wounded in battle or suffering from disease, please tend me gently, I pray, and see that I am treated by loving and competent hands!

Please protect me from the inhuman humans who would hurt and torture me for their own amusement! I am accustomed to your gentle touch and am not always suspicious nor swift enough to avoid such malicious acts!

In my later years when my senses fail me and my infirmities become to great to bear, allow me the comfort and dignity that I desire for my closing days and help me gently in my pain or passing!

HEAR THIS PRAYER MY DEAR FRIEND!!
My fate depends on you!!

My Father's Eyes

The Football Player

Bob Richards, the former pole-vault champion, shares a moving story about a skinny young boy who loved football with all his heart. Practice after practice, he eagerly gave everything he had. But being half the size of the other boys, he got absolutely nowhere. At all the games, this hopeful athlete sat on the bench and hardly ever played.

This teenager lived alone with his father, and the two of them had a very special relationship. Even though the son was always on the bench, his father was always in the stands cheering. He never missed a game. This young man was still the smallest of the class when he entered high school. But his father continued to encourage him but also made it very clear that he did not have to play football if he didn't want to. But the young man loved football and decided to hang in there. He was determined to try his best at every practice, and perhaps he'd get to play when he became a senior. All through high school he never missed a practice nor a game, but remained a bench warmer all four years. His faithful father was always in the stands, always with words of encouragement for him.

When the young man went to college, he decided to try out for the football team as a "walk-on". Everyone was sure he could never make the cut, but he did. The coach admitted that he kept him on the roster because he always puts his heart and soul to every practice, and at the same time, provided the other members with the spirit and hustle they badly needed. The news that he had survived the cut thrilled him so much that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father. His father shared his excitement and was sent season tickets for all the college games. This persistent young athlete never missed practice during his four years at college, but he never got to play in the game.

It was the end of his senior football season, and as he trotted onto the practice field shortly before the big playoff game, the coach met him with a telegram. The young man read the telegram and he became deathly silent. Swallowing hard, he mumbled to the coach, "My father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss practice today?"
The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder and said, "Take the rest of the week off, son. And don't even plan to come back to the game on Saturday."

Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well. In the third quarter, when the team was ten points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on his football gear. As he ran onto the sidelines, the coach and his players were astounded to see their faithful teammate back so soon. "Coach, please let me play. I've just got to play today." said the young man. The coach pretended not to hear him. There was no way he wanted his worst player in this close playoff game. But the young man persisted, and finally feeling sorry for the kid, the coach gave in. "All right," he said. "You can go in".

Before long, the coach, the players and everyone in the stands could not believe their eyes. This little unknown, who had never played before was doing everything right. The opposing team could not stop him. He ran, he passed, blocked and tackled like a star. His team began to triumph. The score was soon tied. In the closing seconds of the game, this kid intercepted a pass and ran all the way for the winning touchdown. The fans broke loose. His teammates hoisted him onto their shoulders. Such cheering you never heard!

Finally, after the stands had emptied and the team had showered and left the locker room, the coach noticed that the young man was sitting quietly in the corner all alone. The coach came to him and said, "Kid, I can't believe it. You were fantastic! Tell me what got into you? How did you do it?" He looked at the coach, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Well, you knew my dad died, but did you know that my dad was blind?"

The young man swallowed hard and forced a smile, "Dad came to all my games, but today was the first time he could see me play, and I wanted to show him I could do it!"

Like the athlete's father, God is always there cheering for us. He's always reminding us to go on. He's even offering us His hand for He knows what is best and is willing to give us what we need and not simply what we want. God has never missed a single game. What a joy to know that life is meaningful if lived for the Highest. Live for HIM for He's watching us in the game of life.

Bless Our Seniors

Father we thank you for our seniors
Friends so faithful and true.
For all the hours they've spent
On their knees talking to you.

They've set good examples
Taught by the way they live.
And when there is a need
They never hesitate to give.

They are a wealth of information
Always willing to share.
And so we want to honor them
To show how much we care.

So Father bless our seniors
Every hour of every day.
We are so grateful for them
It's in Jesus name we pray.

Amen

If I Make A Wish

I've been told if I make a wish
On a star that's shiny and bright
That an angel will hear that spoken wish
Sometime before it's light.

The angels know the stars by name
Our Father taught them that
They know the one that's wished upon
About them they do chat.

They take each wish as it's sent above
Sort them out and put them in place
Grant those first for someone in need
For someone with tears on their face.

Don't give up on the wish you make
If it's not granted right away
Have faith that it's in an angel's care
To our Father they will convey.

Bible Verses for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a meaningful day for moms, and a wonderful day for everyone to express appreciation and gratitude for them.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (New Living Translation)
When it comes to the Bible’s most well-known passage on love, mothers are beautiful examples of the high calling of love that is described.

Psalms 128:1-2, 5-6

How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways. When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands, You will be happy and it will be well with you. The Lord bless you from Zion, And may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. Indeed, may you see your children’s children. Peace be upon Israel! – Psalm 128:1-2, 5-6 (New American Standard Bible)
This passage speaks to the joy and happiness of families who fear God and walk with him — eventually experiencing the blessing of grandchildren

Proverbs 31:25-31

Bold power and glorious majesty are wrapped around her as she laughs with joy over the latter days. Her teachings are filled with wisdom and kindness, as loving instruction pours from her lips. She watches over the ways of her household and meets every need they have. Her sons and daughters arise in one accord to extol her virtues, and her husband arises to speak of her in glowing terms. “There are many valiant and noble ones, but you have ascended above them all!”  Charm can be misleading, and beauty is vain and so quickly fades, but the virtuous woman lives in wonder, awe, and fear of the Lord. She will be praised throughout eternity. So go ahead and give her the credit that is due, for she has become a radiant woman, and all her living works of righteousness deserve to be admired at the gateways of every city! – Proverbs 31:25-31 (The Passion Translation)
This classic passage on the “virtuous woman,” provides a beautiful picture of a mother who experiences the joy of her children and husband.

Ephesians 6:1-3

Children, if you want to be wise, listen to your parents and do what they tell you, and the Lord will help you. For the commandment, “Honor your father and your mother,” was the first of the Ten Commandments with a promise attached: “You will prosper and live a long, full life if you honor your parents.” Ephesians 6:1-3 (The Passion Translation)
In this well-known passage, children are exhorted to the task of honor. All of us — whether we are children or are raising them — should remember to give honor to mothers.

Exodus 20:12

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.  – Exodus 20:12 (New King James Version)
Along with reverence, we are to honor mothers. Whatever our age, whatever our place in life, our mothers always deserve our honor

Leviticus 19:3

Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep my Sabbaths: I am the LORD your God. – Leviticus 19:3 (New King James Version)
God gives us mothers as a gift, and he commands that we revere them, just as we are careful to obey all of God’s commandments.

Luke 1:5-6

In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly. – Luke 1:5-6 (New International Version)
An often-overlooked passage in Luke provides the picture of a godly woman. She had no children of her own, but she looked forward to seeing the child Jesus.

Luke 1:46-48

And Mary sang this song: “My soul is ecstatic, overflowing with praises to God! My spirit bursts with joy over my life-giving God! For he set his tender gaze upon me, his lowly servant girl. And from here on, everyone will know that I have been favored and blessed. – Luke 1:46-48 (The Passion Translation)
Mary, perhaps the most well-known mother in the Bible, made this statement when she learned that God had chosen her to bear the Christ child.

Philippians 4:8

So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. – Philippians 4:8 (The Passion Translation)
Moms are a source of honor, goodness, and loveliness. As in all things pure and virtuous, we are encouraged to think upon such things.

Ruth 1:16-17

Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.  Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!” – Ruth 1:16-17 (New Living Translation)
Ruth, though a foreigner recently bereaved from her husband, declared her undying love for her mother.

2 Timothy 1:5

I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you. – 2 Timothy 1:5 (New Living Translation)
Scripture provides us with this picture of a mother and grandmother who were faithful in both their belief and teaching their children. Their faith was well-known to Paul, as he instructed his protege, Timothy.

A Clowns Prayer

As I stumble through this life,
help me to create more laughter than tears,
dispense more happiness than gloom,
spread more cheer than despair.

Never let me become so indifferent,
that I will fail to see the wonders in the eyes of a child,
or the twinkle in the eyes of the aged.

Never let me forget that my total effort is to cheer people,
make them happy, and forget momentarily,
all the unpleasantness in their lives.

And in my final moment,
may I hear You whisper:
"When you made My people smile,
you made Me smile."
Occasionally the following verse is inserted between the third and fourth verses above:
Never let me acquire success to the point that
I discontinue calling on my Creator in the hour of need,
Acknowledging and thanking Him in the hour of plenty.

The original author of this poem is unknown.
There are several variations on this poem. Chris Farley (from "Saturday Night Live" and "Tommy Boy") was known to have carried this prayer with him in his wallet.
